Pellet stool is stool that comes out in small, round balls. It’s associated with constipation.
In traditional Chinese medicine, pellet stool is caused by liver qi stagnation. It’s often brought on by stress. Lack of exercise worsens the problem.
Signs of liver qi stagnation include: symptoms are worse with stress
symptoms improve with exercise
feeling bloated all the time
copious amounts of gas, which is often odorless
symptoms are worse before or during menstrual periods
Excessive intake of red meat, wheat, sugar, and alcohol are believed to cause congestion and heat in the body and worsen the liver qi stagnation. Reducing intake of these foods can help. Some alternative practitioners recommend a detox diet plan.
According to some herbalists, herbs that reduce stress and help digestion by easing intestinal bloating and cramping are chamomile and lemon balm. Both can be found as teas or taken as capsules or liquid extracts.
Stress reduction techniques, such as yoga, breathing, massage therapy, shiatsu, and aromatherapy, are necessary.

I'm only a buyer with the stress stuff in that in Chinese medicine they say that stress can cause Liver Qi stagnation. I know most of my symptoms point to Liver Qi stagnation, so I am trying to take baby steps of destressing. I started following my Flylady routines again last night. That helps a lot. I'm not able to do everything on my routine all the time, but it's great to have a guideline. I also started doing Julia Indichova's imagery exercises again. You're supposed to do them in the morning and night. I hit both times, so I'm proud of myself right now.Wishing you lots of luck on your IUI this month!!!!If AF would show up, I'd be able to say I'll be doing my own in the next two weeks.

Hi Brooke!
I'm a skeptic about nearly everything, but because I trust my holistic veterinarian completely, I have tried LOTS of 'strange' treatments on my pets and myself over the years based on her advice. And I will say, lots of them work, including Chinese medicine! Even if some of it is placebo effect, as long as you aren't doing any harm and feel better, who cares?! I say be open minded and give it a whirl. Good luck!

Thanks for the inf on lemon balm. It was a surorise. I didn’t know it has so many good qualities to it.
Common Names—black cohosh, black snakeroot, macrotys, bugbane, bugwort, rattleroot, rattleweed
Latin Names—Actaea racemosa, Cimicifuga racemosa

What It Is Used For
* Black cohosh has a history of use for rheumatism (arthritis and muscle pain), but has been used more recently to treat hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and other symptoms that can occur during menopause.
* Black cohosh has also been used for menstrual irregularities and premenstrual syndrome, and to induce labor.
How It Is Used
The underground stems and roots of black cohosh are commonly used fresh or dried to make strong teas (infusions), capsules, solid extracts used in pills, or liquid extracts (tinctures).
Side Effects and Cautions
* Black cohosh can cause headaches and stomach discomfort. In clinical trials comparing the effects of the herb and those of estrogens, a low number of side effects were reported, such as headaches, gastric complaints, heaviness in the legs, and weight problems.
* No interactions have been reported between black cohosh and prescription medicines.
* Black cohosh has recently been linked to a few cases of hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), but it is not clear whether black cohosh caused the problem.
* It is not clear if black cohosh is safe for women who have had breast cancer or for pregnant women.
* Black cohosh should not be confused with blue cohosh (Caulophyllum thalictroides), which has different properties, treatment uses, and side effects than black cohosh. Black cohosh is sometimes used with blue cohosh to stimulate labor, but this therapy has caused adverse effects in newborns, which appear to be due to blue cohosh.
* It is important to inform your health care providers about any herb or dietary supplementA product that contains vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and/or other ingredients intended to supplement the diet. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has special labeling requirements for dietary supplements and treats them as foods, not drugs. you are using, including black cohosh. This helps to ensure safe and coordinated care.

And what about the quality of the “dogfood” that is sold as such these days? It's made out of cheap cereals, ash, and some cheap vegetable protein blends. Completely alien to a dog. Every see a dog bake a loaf of bread? Or harvest the celery sticks for a delightful dip?A dog's natural diet is fatty meats, fat, and bone marrow. Not cereals and vegetable proteins. That's also a large part of the problem, just like in the modern human diets: it's totally alien to the species. That's why dogs in the “civilized” world are as fat as their masters, these days. Totally wrong and inadequate nutrition and lack of exercise.

They attempted to go in the open to take pictures and videos, not hiding, and were kicked out. Whether they wanted to be polite and respectful or not, the only evident truth is that NO ONE would have ever known about this had they not gone undercover. And for that, they're now subject of being called disrespectful. Someone performing such savage abuse on an animal is not worthy of respect. And I believe that Ric's team did a good job at specifying that this is not a general practice in Japan.

“I know you can't comment on your own profession but I hope all of your colleagues reflect on this.”
.
I'm actually a little curious about that. What, exactly, is the punishment for speaking unappreciated truths from inside the bubble? Are you ostracized by colleagues? Punished by editors? Or is there just a general practice in the business of “seeking refuge”.
Thank you so much! Your work is so beautiful and I appreciate your time. I love your background music as you paint; very relaxing. I have a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine even though I am a Scottish girl, and find myself always migrating back to China in my mind; maybe from a past life???? I wish I could have learned this while I was in medical school but was too busy learning how to heal people.
As a current student of Traditional Chinese medicine as well as doing research in Western medicine, I strongly agree about your comment in the second paragraph. Researches show that Americans are one of the unhealthiest people on the entire world – probably the best way to measure is that the U.S. ranks #50 (yes, fifty) for life expectancy on the world!! Not a fact we should take lightly. Most of the products from the food industry is so deficient in nutrients that people don't get anything.
Dear Dr. Gupta:
As a critical care nurse, I am surrounded daily by the stress of caring/monitoring the critically ill, as well as caring for their loved ones. All of this being done on hard surfaced floors on a 12-14 hour shift three times weekly. I find massage therapy twice monthly to be a therapeutic release for my body, mind, and spirit. It provides me release and relaxation that renews me. Such renewal give me strength in both my personal and professional life. Of course, as with any alternative therapy, benefits are often within the eyes of the beholder. For me, massage therapy is extremely beneficial.

Hi Grace, greetings from California.
One of my favorite booths at the farmers market sells lamb's quarters, and other 'weeds' including the amazingly healthful purslane- good source of omega-3, vitamins, and protein.
Plant domestication has not been concerned with healthfulness, so wild foods tend to be superior sources for nutrition.
Positive Massage Therapy
I went on a bit of a herb thing some years back and among the plants I tried was Lemon Balm. The books I read said it would smell sweet and attract bees. Well, it smelled great, but you not only couldn't sit at that end of the verandah for the bees, but have to run inside to avoid the wasps. They loved it.
So if you want a plant that attracts wasps, I recommend Lemon Balm. Just don't put it too close to where you like to relax outside.
Lol… the fat on it is just as healthy than the meat itself. I mean why on Earth would it be easier to digest the fat on it, than it is to digest the meat. Red meat sits in your stomack before it moves on, and it doesn’t get any fresher in there. Now this might suond grose but this is how it is. Whatever… Everybody will listen when they want to… peace
Actually looks quite therapeutic… like massage therapy for your chest.
Hello,
Good info.
This is in benefit of the readers to understand in detail what are correct elaborate procedures of breathing techniques. I have come across many people who blindly propogate Yoga breathing teachniques but forget to remind the harmful effects if the correct procedure is not followed.
I have come across a blog by master Agyaatdarshan where some warnings are clearly mentioned.
Worth reading!
I agree with you there. Yet, it isn't as simple as food and not cooking. This about lifestyle and lack of exercise and activity. We have become a nation of technology. I can sit on my butt in front of my computer 24/7 and get everything I need. I don't have to go anywhere. I hardly ever see the kids in my neighborhood outside playing… it is pathetic. Insurance companies are self serving money stealing overpriced representatives of the elitists in the country.
